Tree Nursery

Over the years, the Jamestown Tree Nursery lost much of its fencing and protection from foraging rabbits and deer. Thanks to Jamestown's DPW, NK student volunteers led by Jim Simmons, and Steve Saracino, Jamestown's Tree Warden, the fencing is now rebuilt and secure. And, thanks to an additional grant, fixes to the shed, a solar powered pump and additional irrigation will be added soon. There are approximately 40 trees in the Nursery for use by the Town on municipal property and for residents who wish to plant trees on their street front. The nursery is replenished through donated trees, trees removed from construction sites, municipal trees that need rehabbing and leftover stock from retail nurseries. A list of currently available trees is here and an application for a tree is here. For $100, the Tree Warden will meet with the applying resident, review which trees are most appropriate for the sight, and arrange for the DPW to plant the tree. The resident is responsible for watering and care.
