Jamestown Tree
We now have an "junior" patch within the nursery for young trees (36") and an infant area in the new hoop house to raise "whips" which are typically 12" bare-rooted stock. This enables a very affordable pathway to restocking the nursery. Along with the hoop house is a new shed to keep tools and equipment weather-tight and protected. Come take a look on your next bike path stroll.
The Tree Inventory project requires identifying, measuring and quantifying each tree in the municipal district. Usually two people work together to gather and input the data. Typically, each group is out for a few hours at a time. If you are interested, someone with experience will accompany you the first time. The purpose is to identify where the canopy is lacking, trees that may be in poor shape and should be replaced and help to develop a planting and maintenance plan going forward in order to provide canopy, shade, mitigation of climate change and wildlife habitat.

Coordinating with landscape architects, neighbors, various planning organizations and the Department of Public Works, the Tree Committee is helping to provide trees to shade and augment the new Bike Path.
