Trees, climate and what happens next.

Trees in their present form date back to 60 million years ago.  Over that time, these sylvan stalwarts have experienced massive environmental disruptions from many sources, yet they remain intact.  Today, many believe the biggest challenge to trees is climate change.  What is climate change, and how will it impact trees? Are trees up to this challenge, and how can future stewardship help? These and other questions will be the focus of what should be a very informative and entertaining lecture on trees.

Presented by John T Campanini, Jr – Technical Advisor, RI Tree Council.

Landscape Trees of Today
and Tomorrow

There are more options in selecting trees for your landscape than there has ever been. New species and cultivars are being introduced into commerce at an accelerating rate, with some being improvements over existing plants, while others fall into obscurity. Rhode Island Horticulturist Joe Verstandig, will discuss the current market for trees and woody plants, explain the merits and values of several species and selections, and discuss the most adaptable, durable, and beautiful landscape trees for a changing future.
